'Amazing Race' comes to Camp Humphreys
CAMP HUMPHREYS -- Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation hosted the Discover FMWR Amazing Race for the first time April 27. The event, much like the television version, featured 24 teams being put through mental and physical challenges. Except, this version was about discovering FMWR programs and racing for prizes.
"The reason we planned this event is to introduce participants, family, friends, and the community to the many offerings FMWR has for the community," said Paul Parrish, the FMWR special events coordinator. The two-person teams gathered at Transformation Park for the 9 a.m. start. Participants had to complete tasks such as disc golf, bowling, archery, riding a tricycle while also solving clues given by the staff located all over Camp Humphreys.
Competitors could guess the answer and then go to the designated leg the clue suggested. They were supposed to go through a total of nine legs through Independence Park, MP Hill Fitness Center, the Community Activity Center, Outdoor Recreation and so on. 1st Lt. Aaron J. Isom, assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3-2 General Support Aviation Battalion, teamed with his wife, Sara and their 5-month-old daughter, Audrey, said, "We feel great. We really came here to have fun. That's exactly what we did. We're satisfied that we did accomplish much more than we thought we would."
The top prize, All-Asia Airline tickets, went to the team of Spc. Patrick DeLeon and Pfc. Zachary Cooper, both assigned to Bravo Company, 602nd Aviation Support Battalion.
