Apollo Amateur Night coming to Osan May 12
“MOVE! Get out the way, get out the way, get out the way,” is what contestants at Apollo Night do not want to hear coming from the DJ’s booth. Once they hear that song, their time is up. Osan’s largest talent show is making an appearance at Osan Air Base this Spring and ready to give local performers a platform to showcase their singing, dancing, rapping, spoken word and MC skills.
Apollo Amateur Night-Osan is based off the structure of the long running show in Harlem New York since 1934. This version has been held for the military communities since 2004 at Ramstein Air Base, Germany by Shanda “Dizzy” Misse as a way to provide a platform for active duty, retired, DoD civilians and dependents to display their talents and to escape from the day to day pressures of military life. So now by special request she has been asked to bring the same platform to the troops at Osan Air Base!
The winning prize up for grabs this year is $500 cash! The audience decides how long the 10 lucky contestants perform. If the crowd was pleased, the contestant can finish their performance, but if the crowd is not amused, they can heckle until "Sandman" sweeps them off stage! The winner is decided by the intensity of the crowd's applause to the performance. Competing in the contest this year are rappers, singers, comedians and spoken word artists straight from the Osan Military Community.
Organized by LaFemmeNakita Productions and Justin Williams, CEO and Founder of Broad Street Promotions and Because We Care, Apollo Amateur Night-Osan is being put on in partnership with the Osan Enlisted Club. The annual Apollo Amateur Night, will be held on Saturday 12 May 2018 at the Osan Enlisted Club. Doors open at 7pm, show starts at 8pm.
