YONGSAN GARRISON -The Area II Civilian Personnel Advisory Center held an informational briefing for military spouses to provide them with information on obtaining a position with the Federal governments here, Sept. 20.

Military spouses were eager to learn about Executive Order 13473, which became effective Sept. 11, 2009.

At the beginning of the briefing, Connie Lee, a senior human resource specialist for CPAC, clarified the intended effect of the order. She explained that the order was meant to facilitate entry of military spouses into the Federal civil service and to minimize employment disruption when military families relocate.

She also added that the order is intended to recognize and honor Servicemembers who are disabled or killed in connection with their service.

"We learned that many of our spouses don't know about the Executive Order," Lee said. "It is our goal to let all the spouses know that we know how difficult it is when their career is disrupted because of PCS move and the order was really geared and put in place for military spouses."

The briefing left spouses well informed and ready, especially with the opportunity to meet face-to-face with CPAC personnel.

"It was very informative," said Thuyha Ly, a military spouse who attended the briefing. "There is a lot of information not readily available, so most spouses definitely benefited from attending this briefing."
