Army secretary visits U.S. Soldiers in South Korea
OSAN AIR BASE, South Korea — Secretary of the Army John McHugh arrived here Aug. 16 to meet with U.S. military leaders and Soldiers around the Korean Peninsula.
McHugh was welcomed to Korea by Eighth Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. John D. Johnson and Command Sgt. Maj. Rodney D. Harris.
As the U.S. military shifts its focus to the Asia Pacific region, McHugh will meet with U.S. troops who serve near the world's most heavily armed border.
The secretary will also be briefed on Eighth Army's revolutionary mission change to a Field Army, capable of commanding combined and joint corps-level combat formations.
McHugh issued the general order that designated Eighth Army as an operational-level Field Army headquarters in January.
