The Earth Day Eggstravaganza will be held April 19 at Soldier Field.

Among the many activities are: 5K and Kids 5K and 1-Miler, 9 a.m., start and finish at Humphreys Community Fitness Center; pre-register no later than April 13. Age divisions - 1 Miler - Boys/girls under 10 and 11-15; 5K Youth: Boys and girls ages 5-8, 9-11, 12-15 and 16-18. Prizes will be awarded to the top finishers and participation ribbons will be given to all youth finishers in both the 1-miler and the 5k.; Adults 5/10k: Men's/Women's 29 and under, Men's/Women's 30 - 39, Men's/Women's 40 - 49 and Men's/Women's Over 50; Unit 5k run: Minimum of 10 participants from the same unit. Day-of sign ups authorized, but t-shirt and chip timing are not guaranteed. Registration starts 1 hour and 15 minutes prior to start. Race meeting 5 minutes prior to start. Participation ribbons for youth 17 and under for 5K and 1 Miler.

Post-race, enjoy an array of Earth Day activities, insight and giveaways. Earth Day contests: Middle schoolers and high schoolers are encouraged to submit an essay, 500 words or less, providing your interpretation of the message "Sustaining the Environment for a Secure Future". Essays can be handwritten or typed and submitted as sa hard copy or electronic file NLT April 4 to Winners will be announced near the conclusion of the event. Two age divisions: 6th - 8th grade and 9th - 12th grade. Elementary school students can bring recycled art (from clean, reusable, recyclable and/or disposable materials) NLT 11 a.m. on event day. The first 20 kids to bring in recycled art receive a free AAFES kids' meal. All others submissions receive a free drink. Judging will be conducted by those in attendance on event day. Prizes in both the essay and art contest: 1st place: $25 AAFES gift card, 2nd place: $15 AAFES gift card and 3rd place: $10 AAFES gift card.

Eggstravaganza starts at 11 a.m. Egg Hunt start times: Ages 0-3: 11:30 a.m., Ages 4-6: 11:45 a.m. and Ages 7-10: 12:15 p.m. Bouncers and activities from CYSS; food, prizes and more! Plus, get your picture taken with the Easter Bunny - free!
