YONGSAN GARRISON, South Korea — The Eighth Army Show Band, Different Shades of Seoul, held a concert at the Seoul Tower April 27, for all the people who occasioned to spend their weekend at the famed attraction.

Staff Sgt. Jerry Sams, the musical performance team leader of DSOS, said that the was hosted as part of an effort to further engage with the Korean public.

“One thing that the band lacked as far as missions were concerned was reaching out to the Korean community,” said Sams. “I truly believe that we’re strengthening the ROK-U.S. Alliance by coming out to the public and showing a good face of the U.S. Army.”

The concert consisted of a healthy mix of well-known Korean and American pop songs. The audience showed that they clearly enjoyed this rather pleasant surprise with enthusiastic cheers and applause.

“The band connected well with the crowd, and really lifted up the whole atmosphere,” said Hyun-soo Han, a resident of Seoul.

The DSOS performance was a part of a weekly series of concerts that the Eighth Army Band has been organizing with Seoul Tower.

The jazz ensemble is scheduled to perform this coming Saturday.
