SEOUL -- American and Korean sevicemembers and their families celebrated the holidays and enduring friendship at the 7th Annual Korea-America Friendship Holiday Concert at the Seoul Performing Arts Center Dec. 14.

Eighth Army Commander Lt. Gen. Bernard S. Champoux hosted the event at the world-famous performing arts center in southern Seoul.

"Music is the universal language that transcends cultures and people. It is our hope that this concert helps bring us even closer together," said Champoux addressing the audience before the show began.

As snow began to fall outside, the Eighth Army Band along with members of the Second Infantry Division Band and Republic of Korea Army Capital Defense Command Band performed a number of popular songs and holiday classics during the first part of the show.

After an intermission, famed Korean opera soprano Miseon Oh, backed by the Seong Nam Philharmonic Orchestra, wowed the crowd with her incredible vocal range.

She was later joined by the vocal trio "The Barberettes" and students from the Sangmyung University college of Music.

"The holiday season is a magical time that music brings alive, It is a time to be spent with family and friends and it is a special treat for us to spend this afternoon with our Korean friends," Champoux added.
