New Commander Greets Area IV
DAEGU GARRISON — Greetings to the Soldiers, Civilians, Family Members, our Korean workforce and the entire U.S. Army Garrison Daegu and Area IV family. I can’t tell you how excited we are as an Army family to be here in the Land of the Morning Calm and especially here in Daegu.
We are truly humbled to serve, support and command in Korea along with the Soldiers, families, and civilian workforce. This is a tremendously exciting time not only here, where we serve both our country and that of our staunchest ally, the Republic of Korea, but throughout the Pacific, as U.S. foreign policy focuses on this dynamic region. The fact that we mark the 60th anniversary of the armistice that forged the ROK-US alliance only makes that more poignant.
The entire USAG Daegu team will continue to work with the community and the entire Area IV team, as we continue to grow Area IV into the strategic and enduring hub needed to support the missions of USFK and Eight Army, whether that means our mission partners at Team 19, the Marines in Pohang, the Navy in Chinhae and Busan and even the Air Force at Daegu Air Base.
Area Iv agencies and units have a well-earned reputation for professionalism and service with a smile – where people strive to “Make a Difference.” I look forward to meeting you in the coming weeks as I get out and about to Camps Henry, George, Walker and Carroll, DRMO in A’po, the Busan Storage Facility and Pier 8 in Busan and the rest of Area IV. I want to know your thoughts and what we can do to help make a difference – are we doing the right things? Are we doing them right? And, what are we missing?
As we move into the summer and toward our Independence Day holiday, take advantage of the many opportunities to enjoy the day, but please do so safely.
I am proud to be given the privilege of leading this fine community. I am sure that with the superb team already in place here, and your help, together we will meet the challenges ahead.
Make a difference!
