Operation Sweet Treat seeks volunteers, aims to bake 108,000 cookies
OSAN AIR BASE, Republic of Korea–Team Osan Spouses Club's largest community-wide philanthropy, Operation Sweet Treat, will be held on December 12-13. The organization’s mission is to assemble over nine thousand gift bags filled with homemade cookies and Christmas candy for unaccompanied airmen and soldiers stationed at Osan and Kunsan. But Operation Sweet Treat needs volunteers to succeed.
“We need all hands on deck to turn this Christmas miracle into a reality,” said Sarah Inman, Operation Sweet Treat chairwoman. “108,000 cookies is a steep goal, but I know Team Osan will come together to make it happen. The holidays are all about giving, so why not get into the holiday spirit by volunteering for Operation Sweet Treat? It will put a smile on the faces of the men and women in uniform spending Christmas in Korea without their families, so that in itself is worth the work.”
Volunteer opportunities include: baking at home, joining a mass baking session, sorting items into gift bags, and delivering gift bags. Interested individuals are encouraged to sign up to bake cookies with SignUpGenius at http://bit.ly/2f04x6u. For those interested in sorting items or delivering gift bags, visit http://bit.ly/2gHbHg3.
At-home bakers are instructed to drop off their cookies at the Osan Officers’ Club on December 12 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. for counting and sorting. Gift bags will be packaged and then distributed by the First Sergeants on December 13. For more information, visit the Operation Sweet Treat Facebook page at facebook.com/OperationSweetTreat.
