During the Christmas season in October 2014, all branches of the Armed Forces were asked to make an Ornament reflecting the branch of service you, your spouse, and/or a loved one was a member.

Nicole White made several ornaments reflecting her immediate family’s involvement in the military. Her husband is a member of the United States Air Force and their Daughter, Chynna, is a member of the United States Coast Guard Academy Prep School. White made 4 ornaments reflecting who they are as a military family. Each ornament was selected and placed on the trees of the Air Force and Coast Guard.

This Christmas, White was given the opportunity to decorate the Vice President and Dr’s Biden home. She flew from the Osan AB 51st Fighter Wing to Washington DC. She spent a week in Washington DC decorating their home. She had the honor of personally decorating the Sun Room dedicated to all branches of the military. The theme for the Sun Room was “Joining Forces.”

The Sun Room is the entrance to the home tour; a beautiful 12-foot live tree is adorned with vintage and rustic red, white, and blue ornaments along with ornaments from all five branches of the Armed Forces.

New ornaments made by White representing the Air Force and Coast Guard also dress this year’s tree. Carlos Elizondo, Residence Manager and Social Secretary for the Vice President and Dr. Biden, found a United States veteran artist who created a special series of portraits to display across from this tree. Each branch of the Military is represented with a beautiful hand carved wooden plaque, each with a military crest.

A special sign from the USO sits atop an antique desk along with live greens filled with festive flowers and berries. Under the tree were carefully wrapped presents in various vintage paper representing the United States flag. Beautiful barrels filled with pine, berries, American flag ribbon, greenery, white spray painted glittered stems, and bows graced the entrance and exit of the room.

Nicole had the honor to meet and speak with Vice President Biden and Dr. Jill Biden; they told her how much they appreciated the time and effort it took travel to Washington DC to decorate their home.
