5/10/2012 - KUNSAN AIR BASE, Republic of Korea -- Single Wolf Pack Airmen can now enjoy free trips, classes, and recreation events through the Air Force-wide PLAYpass program.

Supporting deployed Airmen and their families, the program also offers more opportunities to explore and play for single Airmen at forward-deployed locations such as Kunsan AB.

"Our Airmen are here for a limited time, so the ability for them to experience the culture of Korea is also limited. The PLAYpass program allows our Airmen to schedule trips offered through Outdoor Recreation and the Community Activities Center and actively engage with local Koreans and tour various sites of historical importance or simply take time off for some leisure activities," said Mr. James Wolfe, Community Services flight chief.

According to Sara Harr, 8th Force Support marketing, eligible Airmen are issued one PLAYpass card during their duty tour on Kunsan AB when they sign up. Each card is valued at approximately $600, and provides multiple one-time use coupons worth $25 to $100 for various events.

Events are categorized into three sections: Play, Recreate, and Explore.

Play coupons: valid for any recreational (bowling, etc.), fitness (martial arts classes, etc.), life skills, or leisure classes.

Recreate coupons: valid for additional recreational programs and events or activities.

Explore coupons: applies solely to trips through Outdoor Recreation and CAC Tours.

A unique feature of the program allows Airmen to use their card to partially cover the cost of a friend. For example, if a trip cost $35 and the Airmen uses the $50 coupon block, (note: only one block per event is allowed) they can use the remaining $15 toward a friend's ticket on the same tour.

"This is a bonus because the Airman does not have to take a trip alone, and their friend will receive a discounted price. The option to take a friend ensures our Airmen get the best experience from the PLAYpass program," said Wolfe.

All single Airmen are eligible for the PLAYpass program, which are defined as Airmen who are not married and have no dependents.

"Married Airmen are eligible to use the program for 90 days after they arrive at their follow-on location; however, family members of Kunsan Airmen are eligible to use the program at their current location," said Harr.

To register for PLAYpass bring your military ID card and a copy of your orders to the Airman and Family Readiness Center in building 755.
