USAMMC-K receives prestigious VPP safety award
DAEGU GARRISON — Members of the United States Army Medical Material Center-Korea (USAMMC-K) have every reason to hold their heads up high. The Camp Carroll-based unit became the latest recipient of the Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) award in a ceremony held Sept. 11th at the Camp Carroll Medical Supply Warehouse.
The VPP focuses on reducing injury and illnesses; increasing safety and occupational health awareness, ownership and accountability; increasing readiness and improving employee morale; and providing positive return on investment. Over the years, USAMMC-K has been consistently recognized for its excellence in maintaining quality workplace environments, and healthy working conditions. Presenting the award was distinguished visitor and guest, Maj. Gen. Joseph Caravalho, Jr., Commander, U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command (USAMRMC). He said of the occasion, “I came here to visit the folks at the USAMMC-K, and had a great privilege to be able to witness and participate in the presentation of the VPP. The Voluntary Protection Program is an important program for the US Army, Army Medicine, and for many women on the Korean peninsula in particular, because it sends a message of the importance of always conducting ourselves in the highest level of safety in all operations that we perform. I’m very proud of these folks here for what they have accomplished.”
