Warrior Country plans tricks, treats aplenty
CAMP RED CLOUD – Halloween 2012 is drawing near and when it arrives there’ll be plenty in Warrior Country to keep the ghosts, goblins, and trick-or-treaters frightfully busy.
Following is a list of Halloween events scheduled for Warrior Country.
Trunk or Treat – From 3 – 6 p.m. in the Gateway Club parking lot.
Fantasy Playground – From 6 – 8 p.m. in the Gateway Club children’s playground.
Children’s Costume Party – From 6 – 8 p.m. in the Gateway Club main hall.
Horror Movie Matinee – From 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. in the Gateway Club main hall.
BOSS Adult Halloween Party – From 9 p.m. – midnight in the Warrior’s Club main hall.
Monster Rockathon – From 10 p.m. – 3 a.m. in the Warrior’s Club main hall.
Halloween Pumpkin-Eating Contest – Noon at the Camp Casey food court. Prize is a $25 AAFES gift certificate.
Zombie Apocalypse – From 3 – 7 p.m. in the Gateway Club to the Maude Hall parking lot.
Pumpkin Carving Contest – From 7:30 – 9:30 p.m. in the Gateway Club main hall.
Zombie Halloween Party – From 7:30 – 10:30 p.m. in the Gateway Club main hall.
Halloween Costume Contest – From 1 – 2 p.m. at the Casey Main Exchange. Participants will get a free kid’s meal at the food court. For more information, call 730-6263.
Halloween Trick or Treat – From 1 – 2 p.m. at the Casey Main Exchange. Open to anyone in a Halloween costume.
Halloween Coloring Contest for Kids – From 1 – 2 p.m. at the Casey Main Exchange.
Halloween Costume Contest – At the Camp Casey Commissary for children ages 2 to 10. Children ages 2 – 5 must be at the Commissary by 2 p.m. Those ages 6 – 10 must be there by 3 p.m. First- and second-place winners in each category will receive prizes. For more information, call 730-5541/4452.
Children’s Halloween Party and Ceramic Halloween Art Contest – From 3 – 6 p.m. at the Community Activity Center. For more information, call 730-4601.
Halloween Day Mini Trick-or Treat – From 3 – 4 p.m. at the Gateway Club. Open to children 2 – 12 accompanied by parent or guardian at all times. For more information, call 730-3400.
Halloween Costume and Karaoke Fun Night – From 7 – 11 p.m. at the Gateway Club. For more information, call 730-3400.
Halloween 5K/10K Walk/Run – Starts at 7 a.m. Oct. 31 at the Hanson Fitness Center. Registration starts at 6 a.m. for the event, which is sponsored by the U.S. Army Garrison Red Cloud and Area I’s Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation. The event is being linked to observance of this month as Family Advocacy Recognizing Domestic Violence Prevention Month. Army Community Service will provide informational brochures, pins and giveaways, and will have domestic violence advocates on hand to answer questions. There’ll also be a chance to make a written pledge to help prevent domestic violence. For more information on the event call 730-3107.

Annual Haunted Barracks – From 5 – 9 p.m. Children eighth grade and under must be accompanied by parent or guardian. Casper Barracks will be open from 5 – 6 p.m. for younger children. The adult version of the Haunted Barracks will be open from 6 – 9 p.m. For more information, call 730-6187.

Halloween Pumpkin-Carving Contest – The Camp Red Cloud Commissary is holding a Halloween pumpkin-carving contest. Pumpkins must be submitted at the commissary by Oct. 25. Winners will be announced and awarded prizes Oct. 29.
Free Candy – Commissary staff will give out candy and other treats to commissary patrons. A prize will also be awarded for best Halloween costume, should any patrons be in costume that day.
Halloween Costume Party – From 8 p.m. – 3 a.m. at Reggie’s Club. For more information, call 732-4478.
