Yongsan hosted a ceremony to launch Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month
U.S. Army Garrison Yongsan hosted a ceremony to launch Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month April 1 at the South Post Chapel here at USAG Yongsan Seoul, Republic of Korea.
During the ceremony, Sgt. Heather Franke, 1st Signal Brigade, described her experience as a victim of sexual assault and stressed the importance of reporting incidents and protecting victims.
"We should be encouraging our Soldiers regardless of rank to report sexual assault and harassment without any type of reprisal or setbacks," Franke said.
Eighth Army Deputy Commanding General for Sustainment Maj. Gen. David W. Puster also spoke to attendees during the ceremony calling for a overall group effort to eradicate both sexual assault and sexual harassment from the Army ranks.
"Servicemembers at every level must....understand and adhere to the Army values in order to eliminate sexual assault," said Puster. "We all have a role to play in protecting those who we love most ... Know your part. Do your part."
