Area I holds retirement luncheon for Herbert C. "Bud" Rader
On Camp Red Cloud in Uijeongbu Nov. 15, the U.S. Army Garrison Red Cloud and Area I holds a farewell luncheon for Herbert C. “Bud” Rader, who since 2013 has served as Director of the Garrison’s Directorate of Human Resources.
Rader is retiring after more than five decades of service with the U.S. government, including 31 years active-duty service in the U.S. Air Force, and another 21 years as a U.S. government civilian. During the luncheon, at Mitchell’s Community Club and Conference Center, Col. Brandon D. Newton, Commander, USAG Red Cloud and Area I, presented Rader a Commander’s Award for Superior Civilian Service for his “exemplary meritorious service” with the garrison. According to the written citation that accompanied the medal, Rader “displayed superb leadership and total dedication to duty” and led to improved services and a 98 percent customer approval rate.
Newton also presented Rader a Korean Civilian Service Award, a South Korean government medal awarded Rader for his Korea service. In addition, Newton presented Rader a certificate of retirement from Dr. Christine T. Altendorf, Director, Pacific Region, U.S. Army Installation Management Command expressing her “personal thanks and the appreciation of the United States Army for the many years of service which you have given to our country.”
