Yonhap reports that a poultry farm in Korea’s Imsil County in the North Jeolla Province, is raising “super chickens” that are as much as six times larger than typical chickens.

Shin Seok-yong is the farm’s owner, and his birds currently weigh about 10 kilograms. Chickens typically weigh an average of about 1.5 to 2 kilograms before slaughter, but the super chickens weight about 10 kg.

According to Shin Seok-yong, who researches super chickens, the birds are fed with antibiotic-free bio-feeds that accelerate growth. He hopes to commercialize the chickens one day, which he believes will be popular for their lack of fat and chewiness.
