On Camp Casey in Dongducheon June 12, U.S. Army Garrison Red Cloud and Area I holds a farewell luncheon for Glenn A. Mallia, who for two years served with the garrison's Directorate of Public Works as chief of the Construction and Contracting branch.
During the luncheon, at the Camp Casey Golf Club restaurant, Mallia was presented a Commander's Award for Civilian Service medal for his "meritorious service" to the garrison from Sept. 1, 2016 through this month.
His performance had been "consistently characterized" by a "high standard of dependability, responsiveness, and superior quality," according to the written citation that accompanied the medal.
In addition, according to the citation, Mallia's leadership "played a vital role" in carrying through more than 125 construction contracts valued at more than $75 million "in an extremely compressed timeline." Mallia was "an exceptional talent and a tremendous asset to the military community," the citation reads.
Lt. Col. Brian A. Jacobs, Commander, U.S. Army Garrison Casey, presented the award, which was signed by Col. Brandon D. Newton, Commander, USAG Red Cloud and Area I.
