Jinju Lantern Festival Oct. 1-14: Floating of lanterns carry personal wishes

The “2018 Jinju Namgang Lantern Festival” will begin on October 1st and end on the 14th at Jinju Namgang Ilwon.

According to visitkorea.co.kr website, “the highlights of the festival are the floating of lanterns carrying personal wishes of the citizens along the Namgang River, and the parade of lanterns created by the students themselves. In addition, the festival features gaejesik (lighting of lanterns in remembrance of the Jinjuseong Fortress Battle veterans), an exhibition of the world’s traditional lanterns, and many more participatory cultural programs.”

Lanterns wishing for people’s first marriage and their hopes and dreams event will take place with the opening of the festival.

Another highlight of this event will be fireworks show which will be held on October 1st at 8 p.m.
