Top U.S. drag queens take on Feb. 25
RuPaul’s Drag Race has landed in Seoul.
Kim Chi and Naomi Smalls, two of the Top 3 finalists from Season 8 of the widely popular drag queen competition show, will be performing this month at Neon Milk, Seoul’s largest drag queen party.
Also performing at the party are some of the most famous queens in the capital city – Kuciia Diament, Lang, Jungle, Kyam, Cha Cha, Nikki Ashes and Vanessica Carver.
Both Naomi Smalls and Kim Chi reached super stardom after appearing on RuPaul’s Drag Race in 2016. While Bob the Drag Queen ultimately walked away with the title, both queens left their mark on the competition with their distinct styles.
Kim Chi, who was born in the U.S. but raised in South Korea, is described as a “live-action anime character and high-fashion” on her website and known for putting out unique and colorful looks and performances. This is her second performance in Seoul at Neon Milk. According to organizers, she “slayed” in her last show here.
Naomi Smalls is a “7 ft. glamazon, inspired by 90s supermodels, pop culture and fashion,” according to her website. Her name marries the edginess of Naomi Campbell and the freshness of Biggie Smalls. Based in Los Angeles, this is Naomi Smalls first time performing in Seoul.
Neon Milk is organized by Dinnersready, a new promotion label dedicated to all different types of events including live concerts, DJ sets, fashion events and parties and other various forms of art and entertainment, according to the company’s website. Yunho Jo, the company’s founder, previously managed the successful LGBT party brand “MAD BAMBI.”
Neon Milk with Kim Chi and Naomi Smalls will take place on Feb. 25 at SKRT Seoul, located behind the Itaewon Fire Station. The party will start at 11 p.m. Tickets are available in advance for 30,000 won on dinnersready.kr. They are 35,000 won at the door.
