AFN Marks the 70th Anniversary of the Korean War
Current service members join with the American Forces Network (AFN) to mark the 70th anniversary of the Korean War during special programming on AFN|movie Sunday and Monday.
Sunday at 5 p.m. watch the 1954 classic Bridges at Toko-Ri followed at 7 p.m. by Chosin. Chosin tells the story of what happened when 15,000 Americans were trapped in the frozen mountains of North Korea by 120,000 Chinese soldiers. That’s followed at 8:30 p.m. with the documentary Korea the Never Ending War.
Monday afternoon at 5 p.m. see the classic 1970 movie M*A*S*H, followed at 7 p.m. by American Experience: the Battle of Chosin. At 9 p.m. watch We’ll Meet Again: Korean War Brothers at Arms. It tells the story of Korean War veterans searching for service members they knew from the ‘50s.
Current U.S. service members will introduce each show, tying in the significance of the historical events to the warriors of today.
