On Camp Casey in Dongducheon Dec. 8, Area I holds its annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony inside the Gateway Club.

Lt. Col. Brian A. Jacobs, Commander, U.S. Army Garrison Casey, made brief welcoming remarks, after which the audience heard Christmas songs sung by the Korean Peace Children’s Choir and music performed by the Eighth Army Band’s Alliance Brass quintet.

Jacobs then called the children forward to join him in a countdown, after which the camp’s Christmas tree, towering outside in the Gateway Club parking lot, came to multicolored life.

Shortly thereafter, Santa Claus himself joined the festivities, pulling up in an Area I fire engine.

Once inside the Gateway Club, he received hugs from eager youngsters, then took a seat and posed for pictures with the kids.
