On Camp Casey in Dongducheon Feb. 14, the U.S. Army Garrison Red Cloud and Area I hosts a Friendship Dinner for their counterparts of the South Korean army’s 65th Infantry Division and other South Korean military units. The audience, dining on steak and baked potato, heard remarks from Col. Brandon D. Newton, Commander, USAG Red Cloud and Area I, and from Brig. Gen. Choi Kyong-kwan, Commanding General of the 65th Infantry Division.

Under a memorandum of agreement with the garrison, the division, headquartered north of Uijeongbu, would help protect U.S. military camps in Uijeongbu in wartime or emergencies. Also during the dinner, Newton and Choi introduced key members of their respective staffs. Newton was accompanied by Command Sgt. Maj. Michael L. Berry Jr., the garrison’s senior enlisted leader, Steven J. Ryan, the garrison’s Deputy to the Garrison Commander, and by Lt. Col. Jon R. Gardner, Commander, USAG Casey, and Greg Kirkland, the Casey garrison's Deputy to the Garrison Commander. Choi was accompanied by the division’s senior enlisted adviser, Command Sgt. Maj. Kim Jin-han. Also among the dinner guests was Col. Chung Suk-hyun, Commander of the South Korean army’s 600th Defense Security Unit.
