A powerful blast of cold northern air moved into Busan, Ulsan, and South Gyeongsang Province yesterday, delivering the sharpest drop in temperatures so far this season.

Morning lows fell by 5℃ to 8℃ compared to the previous day, dipping to 5℃ in Busan, 2℃ in Ulsan, and between -3℃ and -4℃ across inland Gyeongnam. Daytime highs stayed chilly, ranging from 9℃ to 13℃.

The cold becomes even more severe today as morning temperatures have dropped an additional 1℃ to 5℃ since yesterday, pushing most areas across Busan, Ulsan, and South Gyeongsang Province below freezing.

Daytime highs are expected to remain around 5℃, and brisk winds will make conditions feel even colder. Officials are urging residents to take precautions with facility maintenance, water pipes, and personal safety.

Strong winds and rough seas are also affecting the region. High waves driven by swells are reaching the eastern and southern coasts of the South Sea and the southern East Sea today.

Beaches in Busan, Ulsan, and Geoje are experiencing strong surf, and authorities are advising caution near coastal areas.

On the positive side, fine dust levels remain in the “good” range. With yellow dust having cleared out, clean northwesterly winds are keeping air quality stable across the region.
