Torrential rain triggers flooding and landslide damage across Busan

Two days of downpours and strong winds led to flooding, a landslide, and dozens of emergency callouts across Busan, although no injuries were reported.
The Busan Fire and Disaster Headquarters said crews responded to 50 weather-related incidents between August 16 and 9 a.m. on August 17.
Most involved precautionary safety measures, while others required pumping floodwater from affected areas.
Among the reported incidents, a home in Busanjin-gu was flooded shortly after midnight yesterday, part of a retaining wall collapsed following a landslide in Saha-gu, and an underground parking garage in Haeundae-gu filled with water, prompting emergency drainage operations.
The heaviest rainfall was recorded in Gangseo-gu, where 276.5 mm fell on August 17, bringing the cumulative total since the storm began to 395.9 mm.
Other districts also recorded significant rainfall, including 141 mm in Yeongdo-gu and 113.5 mm in Saha-gu.
A heavy rain warning was issued just after midnight, followed by a strong wind advisory two hours later.
