Fine for smoking near Busan Subway exits to be effective Sept. 6

Anyone caught smoking within 10 meters from the exits of Busan metro will soon be fined 20,000 won.

Busan city made an announcement today that intensive crackdowns will be enforced starting from the 6th of September against anyone caught smoking within 10 meters of all 750 exits of Busan metro.

The enactment of the crackdown comes after a grace period of the ordinance on Busan city’s police on smoke-free environment, coming to an end.

Officials and authorities from 15 districts and 1 county will conduct intense crackdowns near Busan subway exits against smokers. Anyone caught violating the law will be fined with 20,000 won.
