Autumn rain is set to sweep through the southeast Korean region due to a low-pressure trough moving eastward near Jeju Island, bringing up to 100mm of rainfall by this afternoon.
The Busan Regional Meteorological Administration reported on the 14th that heavy rain, accompanied by thunder, lightning, and gusty winds, is expected in Busan, Ulsan, and the southern coast of Gyeongnam. Rainfall rates of 10 to 30 mm per hour are forecasted for the morning of the 15th.
From the night of the 14th to the 15th, the region can expect 30 to 80 mm of rain in Busan, Ulsan, and the southern coast of Gyeongnam, while inland Gyeongnam is forecasted to receive 20 to 60 mm, with some areas seeing over 100 mm of rain. A heavy rain advisory has been issued for Busan and Ulsan from midnight to 6 a.m. on the 15th.
Along with the rain, strong winds are also expected. Winds of up to 55 km/h (15 m/s) are predicted along the southern coast of Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam from the morning of the 15th, continuing into the 16th, when high waves caused by swells could impact beaches, rocks, and breakwaters along the coastlines.
The Busan Meteorological Administration urged residents to prepare for potential flooding, especially with drains and ditches potentially being blocked by fallen leaves or debris. Caution is advised to avoid safety accidents and manage facilities properly during this period.
Rain is also forecasted again for the 18th.
