Korean Man Dies After Setting Himself on Fire Over Money Demand

A man in his 50s who set himself on fire Tuesday afternoon in Nam-gu has died at a hospital from third degree burns.

The 53-year-old Mr. Cho doused himself with gasoline before setting himself on fire as he threatened a local convenience store owner of burning everything around him.

According to the local police, Cho had demanded the convenience store owner who had been his friend of seven years to give him 50 million won as he said his friend should have enough money because he opened the store in a cheaper location.

When the owner refused, Cho sprayed himself with gasoline and lit himself on fire.

Police are investigating the exact cause of the incident.
