The 6TH Ordnance Battalion “Bullet Nation,” stood shoulder to shoulder with the Chilgok Community in the city of Waegwan to perform the greatest act given to others; service. The Soldiers, Families, and Civilians within the organization opened their hearts and minds to the Korean Nationals as they walked the streets with gloves, trash bags, and grabbers alongside the City of Waegwan’s Mayor and several volunteers from the Sokjuan Mayor Volunteer Center. Bullet Nation’s belief is that the strength of every organization is built on the relationships the organization has with the local community. As Soldiers, we cannot perform our daily operations without the support from those surrounding us. We are here to support and assist our Allies in this nation in the most optimistic way possible.

SGT Choong Jin, a US Soldier but a second-generation Korean, stated that “Korean people in this area have lived here 20 years, 30 years... this is their home and they work hard to take care of it. I’m glad we are out here taking the time to come alongside them and show we care about the area as well.”

The Battalion Commander, LTC LaTorris Williams stated, “We are doing this to give back and show appreciation to our local Chilgok community leaders. This is a beautiful community here around Camp Carroll, rich with lots of history from the Korean War. As an organization, we would like to show and thank them for everything they do for us, and we would like to do our part as well. Doing our part is keeping the United States and South Korean Alliance intact, this is very important to us, MSC-K and Team 19. We have a unique opportunity to invest in the surrounding areas to show action on our commitment to that Alliance. We value their friendship and we want to do everything we can to continue strengthening that relationship.”

This small act of service is a testament to the organization’s continued commitment to the unit’s heritage of excellence while simultaneously strengthening one of our nation’s most vital and long standing Alliances.
