Osan celebrates all-new functional fitness area opening

OSAN AIR BASE, Republic of Korea --  Col. Joshua Wood, 51st Fighter Wing commander, cuts a ceremonial ribbon at the opening ceremony for the Functional Fitness Area at Osan Air Base, Republic of Korea, June 17, 2022. During the past few months, the 51st Force Support Squadron fitness staff, cross-fit community members and volunteers worked to expand provided services across the base in order to resolve congestion in the Fitness Center. Another big objective for the new fitness area was to bring quality of life improvements for Airmen and families within the Osan community.

To help resolve congestion in the Fitness Center, the 51st Force Support Squadron fitness staff and cross-fit community members invested a total of 640 man-hours of volunteerism to expand provided fitness services across the base. After the ribbon cutting portion, Osan members completed a work-out of the day routine in the newly-opened fitness area.

AFW2 Fit Games: Taking virtual fitness by storm
Physical fitness testing will resume July 1, 2021. Several changes have been made to the test to include increasing scoring for push-ups and sit-ups from 10 to 20 points each, five-year age groups and the waist measurement no longer being required. The Air Force has also worked on alternative strength and cardiovascular testing exercise options with plans to announce them in the coming weeks. (U.S. Air Force graphic)
