A new survey by MasterCard shows that Seoul is once again the 10th most popular city for travel in the world.

The Global Destinations Index showed that 10.2 million overnight visitors were expected to stay in the nations capital. Visitors were also expected to spend about $12.3 billion US dollars, down nearly 2% from 2015. Seoul was also ranked the 17th fastest growing destination.

In terms of visitor origins, China Mainland is of overwhelming importance, contributing 50% of Seoul’s international visitors. This is followed by Japan at 10%, the U.S. and Taiwan both at 6%, and Hong Kong at 4%. Overall, some 18% of Seoul’s international visitors originate from outside of Asia-Pacific according to the report.

Bangkok, Thailand was the top destination with over 21 million projected visitors this year, while London, England took second and Paris, France third.

There were five Asian destinations in the top 10 — Bangkok (1), Singapore (6), Kuala Lumpur (7), Tokyo (9) and Seoul.
