Soju and Korean beer prices set to rise
The cost of soju and local beer is set to rise at convenience stores across the country from today.
The country’s three largest convenience stores will raise the price of soju 100 won, from 1,600 won to 1,700 won while the price of canned beer will rise between 50 won and 100 won per can.
The price rises will occur over the next two weeks, depending on the brand.
The rise in price is due to a new law by the Ministry of Environment which came into effect on January 1st, which enables a higher refund on bottles and cans when returned.
Discount shops are also considering rising the price but have yet to determine if they will.
