The Korea Meteorological Administration has released its report on weather and yellow dust forecasts for Spring 2018.

The forecast set for the Busan, Ulsan and Gyeongnam region is predicted to be similar to previous years except for a warm-up in May.

The average daily temperature in March is normal, between 6.8’C to 7.6’C , but it will be temporarily affected by the high pressure of the cold continent, and the day-to-day variation will be large. High temperature averages in March average 13’C with lows around 4’C.

April temperatures, between 12.6’C and 13.4’C and precipitation between 76.8mm and 118mm are expected to be similar to normal. Average high temperatures are 18’C with a 10’C low.

However, the daily average temperature in May is slightly higher than normal between 17.4’C and 17.8’C, and the amount of precipitation is somewhat less than normal, forecast to be between 91.0 and 140.8mm. Average daily highs are 22’C with lows of 14’C on average.

Yellow dust forecasts are expected to be more frequent than usual, but in the early spring, the northwest winds affecting Korea are weak and the total number of days of yellow dust will be similar to normal, around 4.5 days on average.

Winter temperatures were 1.5’C colder than normal with only 57% of the average precipitation accumulated.
