OSAN AIR BASE, Republic of Korea — Team Osan Spouses’ Club (TOSC), a social club dedicated to offering friendship, support and volunteer opportunities in the Osan Air Base community, is hosting a free barbecue party for all military spouses on Thursday, August 18, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the pavilion by the softball field. The party is open to current TOSC members, TOSC non-members, government contractors, GS employees and dual military members. The menu includes hot dogs and hamburgers, but attendees are encouraged to bring side items.

“We are super excited about getting everyone together to start this year off right and with a bang,” said Carol Wood, president of TOSC. “The barbecue is the perfect opportunity for the newest spouses here —or just spouses who have never been involved at Osan—to experience firsthand what being a member of TOSC is like. It’s going to be a blast. Food always brings fellowship, and fellowship is what TOSC is all about.”

Individuals wishing to attend the barbecue are encouraged to RSVP by clicking the RSVP tab within the virtual event, which is pinned at the top of TOSC’s Facebook timeline. Attendees of the barbecue may bring kids if they choose to do so, and club members will be eligible to win door prizes. This is the second event to be hosted by TOSC this summer. An IKEA shopping trip was held on Tuesday, July 19. Other events hosted by TOSC throughout the year include Operation Sweet Treat, Make It Bake It Fake It and Wild West Night.

Operation Sweet Treat provides thousands of holiday cookies to unaccompanied airmen and soldiers stationed all around the ROK peninsula. Make It Bake It Fake It is a silent auction of handmade items, baked goods, and purchased items for the benefit of TOSC’s social budget. Wild West Night, which benefits TOSC’s welfare fund, is a western-themed party complete with gaming tables, dancers and auctions. Wild West Night 2016 raised almost $30k, funding scholarships for active duty service members, spouses and high school seniors.

TOSC also sponsors the Osan Thrift Shop, a volunteer-based, non-profit organization now located at building 251, the former location of the Osan American Elementary School. All profits from Osan Thrift Shop are given back to the Osan community. Last year, more than $70k in profits was distributed to the Red Cross, the USO, Homeward Bound, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Osan American High School.
