Update on Use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Systems

The Deputy Secretary of Defense has suspended purchases of commercial-off-the-shelf, Unmanned Aerial Systems for "operational use" until the Department of Defense develops a strategy to adequately assess and mitigate the risks associated with their use. Please see attachment "Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Systems Cybersecurity Vulnerabilities" for more information.
Unmanned Aerial Systems can be purchased for "recreational use" but these devices cannot be used on Army installations. Please see attachment "Use of Unmanned Aircraft Systems" for more information.
