Since 1941, the USO has stood alongside service members and their families through every chapter of military life, delivering connection, comfort, and care wherever they serve.

At Osan Air Base, that commitment comes to life through a strong partnership with the Military and Family Readiness Center (M&FRC). While each organization has a distinct role, both share the same purpose: helping airmen and their families navigate life overseas.

From the M&FRC’s perspective, sharing a location with the USO at the McPherson Center has been an incredible force multiplier for the Osan community. Ms. Wendy Canizales, Flight Chief, Military & Family Readiness Center, explains that being co-located allows the teams to seamlessly connect with more than 4,000 personnel each month, including service members preparing to transition to civilian life. This proximity ensures they receive both readiness support and a sense of belonging. By collaborating, sharing volunteers, and aligning resources, both organizations meet the needs of airmen and families more effectively. Together, they are not just delivering services; they are making community happen.

Since 2020, the shared space at the McPherson Center has created a centralized hub where service members and families can access resources, attend programs, and find moments to relax in one location.

USO Osan programs complement M&FRC’s services across all stages of military life. Coffee Connections brings military spouses together to build friendships and support networks. Special Delivery celebrates growing families. Cooking Classes foster connection through shared experiences. Lunch on the Go provides complimentary meals that boost morale during demanding workdays. These programs naturally align with M&FRC’s readiness initiatives.

The co-location also enhances daily engagement. Airmen attending Transition Assistance Program often spend time in the USO Osan between sessions, accessing Wi-Fi, enjoying refreshments, and recharging during long training days.

Partnership is especially visible during coordinated events. When M&FRC hosts Bundles for Babies in the morning, USO Osan continues the support with its Special Delivery celebration, allowing families to receive essential information and celebrate an important milestone in one seamless experience.

Volunteers strengthen both organizations. Many serve across programs, contributing their time and talents in ways that deepen impact. Through collaboration on base-wide events such as Military Spouse Appreciation Day, Volunteer Appreciation events, and Kids Understanding Deployment Operations, USO Osan and M&FRC help foster lasting connections across the installation.

What truly sets this partnership apart is not just proximity, but purpose. By standing shoulder to shoulder, USO Osan and M&FRC create a seamless network of support, combining readiness resources with a welcoming space where airmen and families feel valued and connected. Together, they ensure that even thousands of miles from home, no one serves alone.
