The holiday season is here, and what better way to spend the holidays than to enjoy the sights and sounds of - church.  Well, not any church, but the Yoido Full Gospel Church, which hosts one of the largest congregations in the world.

With an estimated 800,000-plus members, seven church services in the main sanctuary on Sundays, a host of ministries to serve the local and international community, and its own Prayer and Fasting Mountain, it is no wonder why people from all over the world come to visit this enormous site.  It is simply magnificent.

In the main sanctuary they offer services from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. every Sunday.  When arriving in the main sanctuary, the people at Yoido Full Gospel Church are very welcoming and hospitable.  Ushers will approach you and direct you upstairs to the section they have set-aside for foreigners to accommodate them with headsets for direct translation of services in real time.  They offer nine foreign languages including English, Russian, Arabic and Japanese.

Located at 11-2 Yeoeuido-dong, Yeongdengp-gu in Seoul, the church’s main sanctuary can seat approximately 12,000 people for each service. But don’t worry, they are not going to turn anyone away. There are also other spaces available on site where there are large-screen TV’s that broadcast the services live. And as to what to wear, come as you are.  You can wear a suit or be casual in some jeans. All are welcomed.

Yoido also has international church services on site, next to the main sanctuary in the 2nd Education Building.  These church services operate in their own sanctuaries at varies times on Sunday.  Individuals enjoy worship, the sermon and the general atmosphere in their native tongue.  These services are conducted in English, Chinese, Japanese, Indonesian, Mongolian, and Spanish.

The English service, called YEM (Yoido English Ministry) is in session on Sunday’s at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. in room 901.  The YEM’s goal is to be a “home away from home” for foreigners. And it does just that with their regular church gatherings, group meetings and special services geared towards making foreigners feel at home.  They would love for you to stop by.

Yoido Full Gospel Church is a place that one can enjoy the festive atmosphere for the holiday season and throughout the entire year. It is a site, to truly behold.
