CAMP HUMPREYS, South Korea — The Army & Air Force Exchange Service is continuing to provide meals to students while DoDEA’s “Virtual” schools are open, even though school buildings remain closed because of COVID-19 concerns.

Grab-and-go breakfasts (from 7:30 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.) and lunches (from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.) are now available for students at U.S. Army Garrison Humphreys, Osan Air Base and U.S. Army Garrison Daegu.

“The brown-bag option allows students to continue eating healthy meals prepared in a clean and safe environment,” said Col. Scott Maskery, Exchange Pacific Region commander. “Even though classes aren’t meeting in person, children are in virtual classrooms, and the Exchange’s school meal program will continue to serve them.”

At Camp Humphreys, parents and students can go to Central and West Elementary School cafeterias to pick up their breakfasts and lunches, while Osan Air Base’s and Camp Walker’s meals will be available at their middle and high school cafeterias.

Eight DODEA elementary and high schools have been closed since March 2 and the Department of Defense Education Activity leaders asked the Exchange to serve students despite school building closures.

The Exchange operates the school meal program for military students overseas, serving more than 2.5 million meals a year.
