DoDEA 2014-2015 District Teachers of the Year Announced

by DoDEA

ALEXANDRIA, VA — May 8, 2014 — The Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) proudly announces its 2014-2015 District Teachers of the Year.

The DoDEA Teacher of the Year Program recognizes and honors exemplary pre-kindergarten through grade 12 teachers. The tiered process begins at the nomination phase where teachers may be nominated by a peer, administrator parent, student, or community member. Each District Teacher of the Year is selected by a district panel using specified criteria to review District Teacher of the year applications. Applicants provide information about their education history, professional development experience, and their leadership roles in the school and in teaching practices. Each District Teacher of the Year is invited to apply for the DoDEA teacher of the Year, who will be announced later this month. The DoDEA Teacher of the Year competes for the title of National Teacher of the Year.

A complete listing of this year’s recipients is contained in the document accompanying this release. Additional information about the Teacher of the Year Program, including points of contact, may be found at the following Web site:

DoDEA plans, directs, coordinates, and manages pre-kindergarten through 12th grade education programs for school-aged children of Department of Defense personnel who would otherwise not have access to a high-quality public education. DoDEA schools are located in Europe, the Pacific, Western Asia, the Middle East, Cuba, the United States, Guam, and Puerto Rico. DoDEA also provides support and resources to Local Educational Activities throughout the U.S. that serve children of military families.
