The Brothers of Lambda Xi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. announced the winners of the 2024 International High School Essay Contest on Saturday, November 16, 2024, during the Annual Achievement Week Banquet held at the Morning Calm located on Camp Humphreys Army Base in South Korea.
1st Place Winner – Abigail Loken from Humphreys High School
2nd Place Winner – Julia McCants from Humphreys High School
3rd Place Winner – Diego Sanchez-Rivera from Humphreys High School
26 High School Seniors from Osan, Daegu, and Humphreys competed in the local contest by writing a 750-word essay based on the theme: “What impact do you believe that social media is having on mental health and why is it important to address this issue?”
The 1st Place winner Abigal Loken will represent Lambda Xi Chapter at the upcoming 13th District International High School Essay Contest with a chance to win:
1st Place Winner - $1,000
2nd Place Winner - $600
3rd Place Winner - $400
The 13th District International High School Essay Contest Winner will be announced no later than January 31, 2025. The Brothers of Lambda Xi Chapter wish Abigail the best of luck as she competes against other high school students from the following locations: Bahamas, Mexico, England, China, United Arab Emirates, U.S. Virgin Islands, Hawaii, Canada, Panama, Dominican Republic, Germany, Japan, Ghana, Bermuda, and Nigeria.
