Alexander, Sylvain

America - A Reflection

From silent fields of seventeen-seventy-six,

A restless dream took flight on daring wings,

Through fractured times

And battles we would fix,

The quiet courage that a nation brings,

Two Hundred Fifty years of forge and fire now past,

From coast to coast the story shifts and grows,

With many challenges to overcome.

Liberty and human rights prevail,

Though we hope so.

Isaiah Bates

America - A Reflection

We are bound by liberty, and brought together by the courageous,

We labored with purpose and defended our convictions.

We merited every victory, nothing was ever granted to us,

We charged into fights and conflicts, not worrying about losing, but worried about justice.

Two and a half centuries of sacrifice for this country,

A surge of pride is shot through many when the anthem plays,

To honor the immense sacrifice for our freedom,

America is my foundation, and an essential part of my character.

Representing all of the spirits who fought for my freedom,

Two hundred fifty years of pure devotion forever remembered.

Bennett, Grace

250 years of America

It has been 250 years since the Declaration of Independence

People showing respect as they show attendance

The world continues to show greatness with freedom

Sizzling noises, smell of barbeque, the humid air, and the loud fireworks

All the nostalgic memories build like artworks

The color of red, white and blue

Shows how much this country grew

Waving the flags to show that we are free

Reminding everyone that we have liberty

This was one of the greatest in history

Manuel Clare

America - a reflection

The promise slept within the ink and quill,

While weary shadows climbed the jagged hill.

The “all” was narrow once, a gated grace,

That looked upon a single, favored face.

But voices rose like thunder through the years,

To wash the scales away with salt and tears.

So less people have to face their fears,

We’ve labored hard to break the narrow chain.

Two centuries to prove the words were true:

That light belongs to every shade and hue.

America

Thirteen colonies cast off an Old Empire’s Crown

Carving a blueprint for liberty on new parchment

The land fractured in a fever of internal war

Ending the chains of one but leaving scars on many

Iron rails and smokestacks reshaped the wild horizon

As the pulse of industry pulled people to the shores

Depression and global conflict tested the modern steel

A silent cold war froze the borders of a changing nation

Digital lights and cosmic dreams expanded the frontier in a race

The unfinished story waits for the ink of the next generation

America, A Reflection

We celebrate 250 years of freedom

The land of the free

It seems to be fate

For great Uncle Sam

We do all we can

For our descendants

The colors have meaning

The flags in our classes are leaning

To represent the 50 states

Oh, how America has great traits

America - A Reflection

250 years

Many more shouts and cheers

From guns and flags to ropes and bulls

From wars and fights to rodeos

From all 5 branches to stars and stripes

To husbands who go fight for their wives

Their wives and children and families at home

They fight for everything they’ve ever known

And all these things come to make

The proud and free United States
