Blissful Busan brunches: 5 excellent cafes you need to try

Their all-day brunch menu features huge omelets crammed with tasty fillings, excellent panini and an intriguing bacon eggs Benedict with a spicy hollandaise. Their coffee is flawless, and their salted-caramel-popcorn ice cream is worth the visit alone. Bonus points for great service.

How to get there: From Kyungsung/Pukyong Uni station (green line), take exit 5. Do a 180 and turn right at the corner. Walk straight and take the first right (at Paris Baguette). Walk straight and look for the cafe on the right, 2nd floor above a cellphone store.

Serving up classic brunch staples like eggs Benedict with avocado, filled croissants and bagels and French toast, Caffe Primo is quickly becoming a favorite with the foodie crowd. They also serve superb coffee – so good you’ll be having a second cup with their molten chocolate pudding for dessert.

How to get there:  From Gwangan station (green line), take the beach exit and follow the road towards the ocean. Take the last right before the beach road and walk straight. The cafe  (2nd floor) is on the second block on your right, just past the back of Homers Hotel.

Housed in a converted ju-taek (Korean split-level house), this quaint brunch spot has a cult following among Korean and foreign customers alike. Construct your own brunch platter from the sides menu, challenge yourself to finish a whole (giant) pizza or caprese crepe, or take the healthy route with a granola, yogurt and fruit parfait.

How to get there: From Geumyeonsan station (green line), take the first left out of exit 5, walk two blocks and turn left again. Look for the white and black house on the right.

This cafe has a three great brunch sets with various combinations of eggs, bacon, sausages and homemade condiments (also: baked beans … hello!), as well as generous portions of pancakes and French toast. We’re not going to lie, it’s tricky to get to; we highly recommend the easy 30-minute stroll from the subway.

Opening hours: Brunch: 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m.; Dinner: 6-9 p.m.

How to get there: From Busan National University of Education station (orange line), take exit 6, walk one block and take the stairs down to the canal. Cross the footbridge, turn right and walk along the path for 25 minutes. Take the stairs signposted: ‘안락시장’ (Allak Market) up to the street level; the cafe is across the road.

This place is a old favorite with northside locals, and you’ll see why when you make the quick trek up the hill. The coffee is one of the highlights here, custom roasted and expertly brewed; you’ll be jonesing for that second (or third cup) before you’ve devoured your grilled veggie omelet or tomato mozzarella focaccia.

How to get there: From exit 3 at Guseodong station (orange line), walk up the hill with E-mart on your right. Go straight at the light and you’ll find the cafe 20 meters on the left.
