The city of Busan has signed a two-year agreement with Daesun Distilling Co., Ltd. to promote and expand “Busan Ollang,” the nation’s first AI-powered multilingual menu platform.

The partnership aims to accelerate on-the-ground adoption of the QR code-based foreign-language menu system across Busan’s restaurant industry, responding to the steady rise in international visitors.

Launched in June 2025, Busan Ollang allows restaurant owners to either directly input menu items or upload photos of existing menus.

The system uses optical character recognition and artificial intelligence to automatically translate content into multiple languages, including English, simplified and traditional Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Arabic, and Russian.

As of December 2025, the city had supported 2,511 establishments with QR-based multilingual menus, marking the largest implementation of its kind nationwide.

Under the agreement, Busan will oversee platform operations, system stabilization, administrative and technical support, and performance monitoring.

Daesun Distilling will mobilize its sales and promotional staff to introduce the platform directly to restaurants and encourage participation, creating a public-private cooperation model focused on field-level expansion.

Following the agreement, the city plans phased expansion measures, including system training for Daesun’s sales staff in February and March, platform training sessions for district officials, surveys of foreigner-friendly restaurants using the system, and the designation and support of outstanding foreigner-friendly restaurants in May.

Further system upgrades and operational maintenance are scheduled for June.
