Busan is opening its first Coffee Awards and Festival (2025 BCAFE) from December 4 to 7 at BEXCO Exhibition Hall 1, bringing together small coffee brands, champion baristas, industry creators, and everyday coffee lovers.
The four-day event is designed as a space for exchange while exploring new directions for the city’s growing coffee industry.
The festival is expected to draw around 20,000 participants, including more than 100 local roasteries, well-known baristas, influencers, and café operators.
The Coffee Awards section includes competitions such as Home Brewing Showdown, Winners Club, and Coffee Cups. Home brewers can participate in the showdown using their own tools and recipes, while the Winners Club gathers top domestic and international champions to test their espresso skills under identical conditions. Coffee Cups evaluates participating cafés on design, identity, and taste through a secret judging panel.
The Coffee Festival portion features programs such as Coffee Guild, Cupping Live TV, the World Coffee Championship (WCC) Judging Skills Program, and the Coffee City Busan Forum. Visitors can meet roasters, sample regional brews, watch live broadcasts, learn official WCC judging methods with SCA certification, and join discussions on future industry growth in Busan.
A free tasting of Busan’s developing ready-to-drink coffee beverage will also be offered. The drink, created in collaboration with world champion baristas and local industry partners, will be presented in its finalized recipe after earlier public testing in September.
