The “Busan Food (B-FOOD) Recipe Season 3” public tasting event was held yesterday at 5:30 p.m. at the Lotte Hotel Busan’s Blue Haven Hall.
The event marked the first official unveiling of 24 new recipes developed in August using certified Busan Excellent Foods and regional ingredients.
The B-FOOD project is part of the city’s ongoing effort to highlight the value of Busan Excellent Foods products made by Busan-based companies that have passed strict quality and safety standards. These certified items represent local trust and contribute to both brand growth and consumer confidence.
This year’s development team included nine food experts, including food columnist Park Sang-hyun.
Together, they created 24 bite-sized food and dessert recipes, 15 of which were presented at the event.
The recipes combine Busan’s signature ingredients such as fish cake, mackerel, perilla oil, and pollack roe with local produce like Gijang seaweed, kelp, and anchovies from Daebyeon Port.
The tasting event featured an opening video showing the development process, followed by introductions of each recipe’s story and preparation method before participants sampled the dishes.
Around 50 guests attended, including chefs, food industry professionals, tourism representatives, and members of the Busan Excellent Food Manufacturers Association. Representatives from nine participating local food companies also joined, emphasizing collaboration between Busan’s food industry and culinary initiatives.
The new recipes are designed to be practical and adaptable for banquets, lunchboxes, and tasting events, aiming to create synergy between local food producers and Busan’s culinary identity.
The city plans to promote and distribute the 24 recipes through various channels, including social media and partnerships with restaurants, hotels, and event venues.
Some of the dishes are expected to appear on menus at future international events hosted in Busan, helping to strengthen the city’s global image as a “City of Gastronomy.”
Since 2023, the B-FOOD Recipe initiative has been developing dishes that combine local ingredients with Busan’s cultural stories, part of the city’s broader effort to establish and promote the unique “Taste of Busan” brand.
