The 2026 Busan Wheat Festival will be held on May 9 and 10 at Hwamyeong Ecological Park, expanding the city’s growing food-centered spring event with larger dining zones, themed activity areas, and new nighttime programming.

Now in its third year, the festival builds on Busan’s historical role as one of Korea’s major wheat distribution hubs following the Korean War. Organizers have developed the event into a wheat-focused culinary festival where visitors can sample a wide range of dishes while also exploring alternative grain and gluten-free food culture.

This year’s edition introduces a “Miltopia Kingdom” concept, dividing the festival into two main sections across the park.

The largest attraction will be the Food Lounge at Hwamyeong Auto Camping Ground, where about 25 popular restaurants, bakeries, and specialty vendors will serve both wheat and non-wheat menu items.

Wheat staples such as noodles, pasta, pizza, and baked goods will be offered alongside rice noodle, mung bean, and gluten-free alternatives, creating a broader all-day dining zone rather than a simple tasting market.

A new evening program called Pairing Night will run from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., adding a more adult-oriented night atmosphere with food pairings, drinks, and interactive performances designed to keep visitors on site after sunset.

Elsewhere inside the lotus field area, visitors will find themed experience zones featuring wheat product markets, vegan and gluten-free booths, craft programs, pizza making, mini games, and interactive team competitions.

Several off-site linked programs will also connect the festival with surrounding neighborhoods, including Nakdong River eco-tour boats and temporary food pop-ups around Gupo Market.

Last year’s event drew more than 33,000 visitors over two days, helping establish it as one of western Busan’s more distinctive specialty food festivals.

Full vendor lists and program details will be released through the official Busan Wheat Festival website at festivalbusan.com/wheat.
