KOREA

I’ve spent enough time in Korea to know that great food doesn’t always come from polished restaurants or big-name chains.

Sometimes it’s hiding in a backstreet, which is how I ended up at Cred’it Burger, about a five minute walk from subway exit 6 in Jeonpo-dong.

Burgers are kind of a comfort food for me, something that bridges where I’m from and where I live now.

Cred’it Burger feels like one of those spots made by someone who really cares about the craft, even if the branding and English translations are a little rough around the edges.

The shop is small, almost like a neighborhood takeout joint, but the griddle smell hits you before you even step inside.

The menu leans heavily into what they call “high-end handcrafted burgers,” built with U.S. chuck-eye roll beef graded in the Prime–Choice range.

It’s not fancy plating or fusion, just thick patties, melted cheese, and soft toasted buns that drip enough juice to make you thankful for extra napkins.

I went for the Classic Cheese Burger, and it came out heavy, salty in a good way, and almost diner-style, the kind of burger you eat in two hands without talking much.

Prices sit in that mid-range sweet spot: most burgers hover around the 10,000–12,000-won mark, with add-ons like bacon or extra cheese running about 1,000 won each.

Sides are simple, either fries or wings, and canned sodas instead of craft drinks, which honestly fits the vibe.

One thing I liked is that the shop doesn’t pretend to be something it’s not. There’s a note on the tray telling you not to cut the burger with a knife, just bite in.

The hours are 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and there is also a location in the PNU area if you can’t make it out to Jeonpo.

It’s not gourmet, and it doesn’t need to be. Cred’it Burger is greasy, satisfying, and pretty honest about what it does well — a solid burger in a corner of Busan where you might not expect to find one.

For me, it scratched that familiar craving in a way that felt both Korean and American at the same time and that’s kind of why I keep seeking out places like this.
