Food delivery service Shuttle launches into Busan

Shuttle, a food delivery service based in Seoul, has officially launched in Busan bringing delicious meals from local restaurants to your door that much easier.

Using the app, Busanites can get the food they love from their favorite local restaurants delivered either in English or Korean.

“Launching in Busan supports our efforts to bring food delivery to more folks across the peninsula through the Shuttle Delivery platform,” said Jason Boutte, co-founder of Shuttle. “Busanites want to be able to enjoy food in a way that fits their lifestyle. As Korea’s fastest growing bilingual meal delivery service, we are expanding in order to meet those demands with the convenience of reliable delivery.”

At first, Shuttle will be launching into Gwangalli, Millak-dong, and parts of Namcheon-dong, Haeundae, Jangsan, Marine City and parts of Centum City with plans to expand their service areas in the months to come.

They will also be hosting two launch parties to celebrate their entrance into Busan — on Saturday, May 4th at Wolfhound in Haeundae and Sunday, May 5th at Gorilla BrewingCompany in Gwangalli with everyone invited to attend.

The announcement marks Shuttle’s first major entry into launching the brand nationally and is part of their ongoing commitment to be in 50 new zones all over Korea by the end of 2020.

Shuttle first launched in Itaewon, Seoul in 2016 with 120 restaurants. Since then, it has grown to more than 500 restaurants on the platform.

Using the Shuttle Food Delivery Platform, nearly 100,000 customers have had hot meals delivered. Partner restaurants also get to tap into the Shuttle Delivery network to expand their businesses by reaching a new network of potential customers.

About Shuttle Delivery

In an unprecedented move, two local food delivery start-ups (Ynot-Takeout & Bird Riders Est.2014) decided it was more profitable and productive to go with the old adage of ‘if you can’t beat em’ join em’. And with that, two local small fry companies became one midsize foreign food delivery company fighting for respect in an industry dominated by Korean giants.

Online food delivery platform Shuttle Delivery also accepts Bitcoin. Users ordering food from all restaurants on the platform can pay with the world’s most popular cryptocurrency. The company’s goal is to widen the types of delivery available in Seoul. And they’ve now done the same thing for payment options — a first among the food delivery companies on the Korean Peninsula.

Shuttle was also the first food delivery company in Korea to introduce the #ShuttleSaves initiative, which was quietly launched in September 2018; in an attempt to allow customers the “No Cutlery” option with their orders. Customers can choose not to have cutlery delivered with their meal by using a toggle on the checkout page of the app.
