A new tea-focused cultural space dedicated to Hadong wild tea is set to open in Busan today, bringing traditional tea culture into an urban, everyday setting.
The Byeolcheonji Hadong Tea Culture Center, also known as HADONG TEA POCKET, will officially open on February 9 in Millak-dong, Suyeong-gu, near Gwangalli.
Designed as a bridge between tradition and modern city life, the center aims to introduce the history, value, and everyday enjoyment of Hadong tea to both residents and visitors.
The two-story facility is positioned as a strategic base for expanding Hadong tea culture beyond its regional roots.
On the first floor, visitors will find a tea lounge where Hadong teas can be sampled, alongside a permanent exhibition space exploring the origins, heritage, and cultural significance of Hadong tea.
The second floor houses a curated tea select shop offering Hadong teas and tea utensils, as well as spaces for hands-on tea classes and related programs.
The center will be directly operated by Hadong County, which plans to collaborate with local tea gardens to deliver educational programs and content centered on Hadong tea and traditional tea ware.
The menu will feature signature teas from 17 tea producers in the Hadong area, along with snacks and desserts made using Hadong agricultural products.
Matcha and hojicha-based drinks will also be available, offering more familiar entry points for those new to tea culture.
A county official described the center as a starting point for bringing Hadong’s centuries-old tea tradition into everyday urban life, adding that the Gwangalli location will play an important role in raising wider awareness of Hadong tea’s quality and cultural value.
The Hadong Tea Culture Center will operate daily from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and will be closed on Lunar New Year’s Day and Chuseok.
