K-16 VFW Post 12147 shows support to local Korean National Police
The newest VFW Post in the Department of Pacific Area’s here in Korea, (Veterans of Foreign Wars) VFW Post 12147 recently accomplished their first Good Neighbor type program. With USFK major Exercise UFG in full swing and the summer heat also full swing they decided to thank the Local Korean National Police with refreshments. They provided water, soda’s and snacks to refresh them and thanking them for providing additional security during the exercise.
VFW Post 12147 opened their charter as a VFW Post last March 19th and has already been an avid supporter of the active duty members not only at K-16 but Korean wide when they also deployed 7 of their Post Members to help cook and serve 600 Soldiers during the BOSS Beach Blast held in late June at Yeon Po Beach. During that project VFW Members from around Korea and VFW National HQ supported this program with over $20,000 dollars and almost 1,000 man-hours that weekend feeding these service members 3 meals a day for that 3 day weekend.
With the VFW year ending in June. They closed out their first year with 81 members and according to their Post Commander, Casey Roberts they plan on doubling that or even tripling that figure being able to have a full year to recruit new members. VFW Post 12147 is located by K-16 Seoul Air Base and meets monthly to support Active Duty Military Members, Veterans in the local area and their family members.
