McDonald’s Korea has added two mala-inspired chicken burgers to its local menu, adding to the continued popularity of spicy, numbing flavors in Korea’s fast food market.

The new items are McCrispy Mala Hash and McCrispy Mala Classic.

Both are built around a fried chicken patty made from 100 percent chicken thigh meat, coated in a Cajun-style breading.

A mala sauce, characterized by chili heat and the distinctive numbing sensation associated with Sichuan peppercorns, is used in both burgers.

The McCrispy Mala Hash includes a crispy hash brown, along with lettuce and tomato, adding extra texture to the sandwich.

The Mala Classic version omits the hash brown and focuses on the chicken patty and sauce combination.
